TALLADEGA COLLEGE HANDS OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL ITS FOURTH STRAIGHT LOSS

HUNTSVILLE – Oakwood University volleyball entered Friday's HBCU Athletic Conference match against Talladega College with hopes of ending its three-game losing streak.

The Ambassadors came out hot, beating the Tornadoes 25-23 in the first set. Unfortunately, Talladega came back and won the next three sets and went on to beat Oakwood 3-1 inside Ashby Auditorium.

When it was over, the Tornadoes came away with a 23-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-23 victory.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in league play. Talladega College improved to 4-11 and 4-3. Oakwood and Talladega College are both chasing Fisk University, who is currently 8-0 in the East Division standings.

Mona Okello recorded her first double-double of the season in leading the Ambassadors.

She finished with a team-high 11 kills and 12 digs.

Harmonie Banks had seven kills, while Anna Jones added six.

Cameryn Bucknor had a game-high 18 assists, while Alexis Wiley added nine.

Kamaria Murray and Arial Smith finished with eight and seven digs, respectively.

Taquoia Rounds had a triple-double to pace the Tornadoes.

She finished with a game-high 22 kills, 10 assists and 10 digs.

Kortni Johnson had 10 kills, while Sha'Niya Cribbs had 17 assists.

Briyith Echeverri had a game-high 25 digs.
