MILES TOO MUCH FOR OAKWOOD WITHOUT MURRAY

FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Oakwood University volleyball, playing without middle hitter Kamaria Murray, gave NCAA Division II foe Miles College all it wanted Tuesday night, but came up short inside Knox-Windham Gymnasium.

The Golden Bears handed the Ambassadors their third straight loss enroute to a 3-0 victory.

Miles won 30-28, 25-13 and 25-17.

Oakwood fell to 8-6 with the loss. Miles improved to 12-10.

Anna Jones led Oakwood with a team-high seven kills. Cameryn Bucknor, Alexis Wiley and Morgan Bone finished with six each, while Harmonie Banks had five.

Bucknor and Wiley finished with 13 and 12 assists, respectively.

Miriangle Rondon finished with a game-high 12 digs. Myah Beasley and Wiley had seven and six, respectively, while Bucknor and Arial Smith had five each.

Karea Copeland led Miles with a game-high 22 kills. Saraih Taylor had a game-high 24 assists, while Kayla Trawich had a team-high 11 digs.

Oakwood is back in action Friday when Talladega College invades Ashby Auditorium in an HBCU Athletic Conference match. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
