OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL STRUGGLES IN LOSS TO FISK UNIVERSITY IN HBCUAC ACTION

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Oakwood University struggled mightily Thursday night as Fisk University came away with an easy 3-0 victory in an HBCU Athletic Conference volleyball match inside Henderson Johnson Arena.

The Bulldogs downed the Ambassadors 25-12, 25-9 and 25-19.

Oakwood fell to 8-5 overall with the loss and 4-2 in league play. Fisk, which swept the season series over the Ambassadors, improved to 20-5 and 6-0.

Kamaria Murray led Oakwood with seven kills on the night. Harmonie Banks finished with four. The Ambassadors finished with 20 on the night, while the Bulldogs finished with 39.

Alexis Wiley and Cameryn Bucknor tied for the team lead with eight assists apiece.

Wiley had a team-high nine digs, while Bucknor, Murray and Arial Smith had eight each.

Morgan Walters led Fisk with eight kills.

Nebthet Re had a game-high 18 assists, while Kaia Barnett added 15.

Nialah Gupton had a game-high 13 digs, while Re finished with 10.

Oakwood is back in action Monday at home against Tennessee Southern. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
