KEYS, ADAMS HELP OAKWOOD OUTLAST WILEY COLLEGE

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Saniya Keys and Trenisha Adams combined for 39 points as Oakwood University outlasted Wiley College 66-61 Monday morning in the Talladega HBCUAC POD at the Billy Hawkins Student Activity Center.

Keys finished with 26 points and 14 rebounds. She was 12-of-17 from the field and had two steals in 32 minutes.

Adams finished with 13 points four assists, three rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes.

Oakwood, which has now won two straight games, improved to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in league play. Wiley fell to 7-9 and 5-5.

The Wildcats led 28-27 at halftime and 46-41 entering the fourth quarter before the Ambassadors rallied in the last 10 minutes.

Keys' layup with just under five minutes remaining gave Oakwood a 56-55 advantage. However, Mya Jones' jumper at the 3:33 mark gave Wiley the lead at 60-58.

From there, the Ambassadors closed the game on an 8-1 run to come away with the victory.

Keys' layup tied the game at 60-all, but Jessica Nerestant's free throw gave the Wildcats the lead at 61-60 with just under three minutes to play.

Kamaria Murray's layup at the 2:17 mark gave Oakwood the lead for good and a jumper by Adams and two free throws by Madison McDonald with three seconds left sealed it for the Ambassadors.

Oakwood shot 40.6 percent (26-of-64) from the field, including 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from 3-point range, and 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from the free throw line.

Tamia Dolls led Wiley with 16 points. Nerestant finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Jones added 10.

The Wildcats shot 39.1 percent (25-of-64) from the field, including 40 percent (6-of-15) from beyond the arc, and 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is back in action Thursday at Fisk University. Tipoff is 5 p.m.
