FANN'S 3-POINTER RIMS OUT AS OAKWOOD FALLS TO WILBERFORCE

WILBERFORCE, OH. – Damon Fann's 3-pointer rimmed out as time expired Thursday night as Oakwood University suffered a disappointing 75-73 loss to Wilberforce University inside Gaston F. Lewis Arena in an important HBCU Athletic Conference game.

Down 74-70 late in the game, Jordan Green hit a free throw to pull the Ambassadors within 74-71 with 13 seconds remaining and Jordan Bell's jumper made it 74-73.

After Jamir Hymes hit a free throw with three seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 75-73 advantage, Fann's 3-pointer went in and out as Wilberforce snapped its seven-game losing streak.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 2-19 overall and 1-12 in league play. Wilberforce improved to 8-12 and 6-8.

Bell led three Oakwood players in double figures with 29 points and nine rebounds. He was 12-of-22 from the floor, including a 3-pointer, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. 

Green finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. He was 7-of-11 from the field, 2-of-4 from 3-point range, and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Jamarkus Alexander scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds. He was 4-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Alexander also had five assists and two steals.

Bell, Green and Alexander combined for 59 points on 23-of-42 shooting, while the rest of the team was 6-of-26 from the field and managed just 16 points.

Oakwood shot 42.6 percent (29-of-68) from the field, including 25 percent (7-of-28) from 3-point range, and 80 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line.

Cali Davis led four Wilberforce players in double figures with 23 points. Germainn Marshall scored 14 points, while Hymes and Josiah Mobley finished with 11 and 10, respectively.

The Bulldogs shot 45.2 percent (28-of-62) from the field, including 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from beyond the arc, and 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood hosts Talladega College Saturday night at 8:30.
