Kamaria Murray and
Cequoyah Harris combined for 30 kills and
Cameryn Bucknor had a double-double to help Oakwood University go 1-1 Friday at the HBCU Athletic Conference Crossover at Tougaloo College.
The Ambassadors downed Southern University of New Orleans 3-1, before falling to Dillard University 3-0.
Oakwood 3, SUNO 1
Murray had a game-high 20 kills and Harris added 10 more to power the Ambassadors over the Knights 25-19, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-19.
Oakwood snapped its two-game losing streak to improve to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Bucknor finished with 35 assists and 18 digs in the match.
Myah Beasley had 16 digs and
Mona Okello added 10.
SUNO (2-12, 1-3) was led by Reagan McDowell with 12 kills. Taszia Adkinson and Alaina Obianozie finished with 11 and 10, respectively.
Armoni Harris had 30 digs, while Trinity Bloodworth and Jaliyah Snowden finished with 11 and 10 apiece.
A'Lon Clark had 20 assists, while Bloodworth added 15.
Dillard 3, Oakwood 0
The Ambassadors didn't put up much of a fight against the Bleu Devils, losing 25-7 25-15 and 25-14.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 5-10 and 3-4. Dillard improved to 5-4 and 3-0.
Okello led the Ambassadors with four kills. Bucknor had nine digs and six assists, while Okello added six digs.
Vanae Sapp and Sara Da Silva led Dillard with 10 kills apiece. Neveah Bax had 11 digs and Nanyelis Moreno had 27 assists.
Oakwood is back in action tonight against Tougaloo. First serve is 7.
