HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University couldn't overcome a slow start Tuesday night and Fisk University took full advantage of it.
The Bulldogs swept the Ambassadors 3-0 in an important HBCU Athletic Conference match inside Ashby Auditorium. Fisk downed Oakwood 25-17, 25-10 and 25-22.
The Ambassadors fell to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in league play with the loss. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs improved to 12-11 and 5-0.
Cequoyah Harris led Oakwood with five kills.
Mona Okello finished with nine kills, while Miriangie Rondon and Myah Beasley had seven apiece.
Cameryn Bucknor led the Ambassadors with 11 assists.
Trinity Crawford led Fisk with 10 kills.
Nialah Gupton and Reagan Jones finished with 16 and 12 digs, respectively.
Trinity Britt had a game-high 26 assists.
Oakwood is back in action Friday in Jackson, Miss.
The Ambassadors will take on Southern University of New Orleans at 12 p.m., followed by a match with Dillard University at 4.
Oakwood visits Tougaloo College Saturday at 7 p.m.
