WELCH COLLEGE OUTLASTS OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL IN FIVE GAMES

GALLATIN, Tenn. – Oakwood University volleyball gave Welch College all it could handle Saturday night, but ultimately the Flames outlasted the Ambassadors 3-2 inside Welch Gymnasium.
 
Welch won 25-16, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25 and 15-10.
 
The Flames improved to 5-1 with the victory. The Ambassadors fell to 2-6.
 
Kamaria Murray and Cequoyah Harris led Oakwood in kills with 11 and 10, respectively.
 
Hannah Wingate finished with 10 and Mona Okello added six.
 
Cameryn Bucknor had a double-double, finishing with 25 digs and 39 assists.
 
Arial Smith had 18 digs, while Okello and Miriangie Rondon had 11 and 10, each. Anna Jones added nine.
 
Michaela Pinkerman and Zoey McKnight led Welch with 20 and 17 kills, respectively.
Kelsie Southerland and Pinkerman finished with 24 and 22 digs apiece. Areli Vela Alvarez finished with 16, while Mae Voorhies added 11.
 
Voorhies had a game-high 43 assists.
 
Oakwood hosts Milles College Monday at 6 p.m.
