OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL FINISHES 1-2 IN RUNNING EAGLE CLASSIC

BUCKNOR POSTS A PAIR OF DOUBLE-DOUBLES

MARIETTA, Ga. – Oakwood University volleyball finished 1-2 Friday in the ninth annual Running Eagle Classic at Life University.
 
The Ambassadors fell 3-0 to Brenau University, 3-0 to Florida National University before beating St. Andrews University 3-1 in their last match of the day.
 
Brenau University 3, Oakwood 0
Freshman Cequoyah Harris (Forest Park, GA) led the Ambassadors with seven kills, while Mona Okello (Overland Park, KS) finished with three and eight digs. Jea Joseph (Huntsville, AL) also had eight digs.
 
Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 digs and 11 assists.
 
Florida National 3, Oakwood 0
Freshman Kamaria Murray (Murfreesboro, TN) led the Ambassadors with a team-high seven kills, while Okello and Harris finished with four and three, respectively.
 
Joseph led the team with 10 digs, while McKelvey (San Diego, CA) had seven, Okello six and Bucknor, Murray and Miriangie Rondon (Dominican Republic) had five each. Bucknor finished with 17 assists.
 
Oakwood 3, St. Andrews 1
Bucknor finished with her second double-double in three games, posting 24 assists and 19 digs to help the Ambassadors pick up their first win of the season.
 
Harris backed Bucknor with eight kills, while Hannah Wingate (Grant, AL) and Murray finished with seven apiece. Okello had five kills, while Anna Jones (Attalla, AL) added four.
 
McKelvey, Rondon, Joseph and Okello finished with 14, 13 and 12 digs, respectively. Murray had eight digs, while Jones added seven. Wingate and Arial Smith (Birmingham, AL) had four digs each.
 
Oakwood is back in action Monday at Life University. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
