OAKWOOD BATTLED HARD IN LOSS TO TENNESSEE SOUTHERN

Pulaski, Tenn. – Oakwood University battled hard Saturday night, but Tennessee Southern came away with a 3-0 victory in a non-conference volleyball match inside the Curry Athletic Complex.

The Firehawks downed the Ambassadors 25-12, 25-16 and 25-21.

Oakwood fell to 10-17 in suffering its third straight loss. Tennessee Southern improved to 8-13.

Kamaria Murray led the Ambassadors with six kills. Mona Okello and Anna Jones had three apiece.

Cameryn Bucknor led the way with nine assists.

Bucknor also had a game-high 17 digs, while Murray finished with nine.

Sophia Ortega and Morgan Avrit led the Firehawks with 12 kills each.

Laura Howell had a game-high 31 assists, while Hannah Oliver and Ortega finished with 14 and 10 digs, respectively.

Oakwood will be back in action Nov. 11 in the HBCUAC Championship in Bossier City, La.
