OAKWOOD VISITS FAULKNER TONIGHT IN NON-CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Oakwood University will visit Faulkner University tonight in a non-conference doubleheader inside Tine W. Davis Gymnasium.

The women's game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the men's game.

Women's Preview

The Ambassadors (1-4) will try to snap their three-game losing streak when they take on the Eagles (3-4).

Faulkner downed Oakwood 85-48 two weeks ago in Huntsville.

Oakwood is led by Saniya Keys and Trenisha Adams.

Keys is averaging 21 points and 13 rebounds per game, while Adams is averaging 8.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 15 assists, 14 steals and 12 3-pointers. The rest of the team has made six 3-pointers.

Faulkner has four players averaging in double figures.

Morgan Holland Dewitt is averaging 17 points and 9.5 rebounds. Ruthie Smith is averaging 15.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and has 15 blocks.

Keyarra Scott is averaging 12.7 points, while Syndey Steward is averaging 10 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

Men's Preview

Oakwood (1-6) will try to snap its four-game losing streak and hand Faulkner (7-0) its first loss tonight.

The Eagles downed the Ambassadors 65-57 in Huntsville two weeks ago behind 21 points from Maliek Sadler. Sadler was 6-of-9 from the field, including five 3-pointers, and made all four of his free throws.

Jaywill Thornton, Jordan Bell and Chase Jackson combined for 38 points for Oakwood, while the rest of the team managed just 19.

Bell leads the Ambassadors in scoring (11.8) and rebounding (5.3).

Jonathan Garcia (17.6), Gabriel Rivera (14.0) and Sadler (11.4) are the Eagles' top scorers.

Faulkner is 2-0 against HBCU Athletic Conference opponents this season with wins over Oakwood and Stillman College.
