OAKWOOD FALLS TO WINLESS LEMOYNE-OWEN IN GRUELING FIVE-SET MATCH

Memphis, Tenn. – After winning back-to-back HBCU Athletic Conference games for the first time all season, Oakwood University came here Tuesday night looking to stretch its winning streak to three in a row.

Unfortunately, winless LeMoyne-Owen College refused to give in.

The Magicians outlasted the Ambassadors in a non-conference game, winning 3-2 in a grueling five-set match inside Bruce-Johnson Hall to pick up their first win of the season.

LeMoyne-Owen won 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 25-15 and 15-7.

Oakwood fell to 8-12 overall, while LeMoyne-Owen improved to 1-11.

Kamaria Murray, the reigning HBCUAC Attacker of the Week, led the Ambassadors with 13 kills. Mona Okello and Cequoyah Harris finished with six and five, respectively.

Cameryn Bucknor had 28 assists.

Myah Beasley had 25 assists, while Okello and Murray finished with 14 and 10, respectively.

Sy'Raia Sandifer led the Magicians with 20 kills. Madison Stepter and Sukiya Jones finished with 16 and 12, respectively.

Jadyn Harris had a game-high 51 assists.

Honesty Campbell finished with 40 digs, while Jones and Harris had 16 and 14, respectively.

Oakwood is back at home Thursday night against Talladega College. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
