OAKWOOD COMES UP SHORT AGAINST TALLADEGA COLLEGE

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Oakwood University came up short Thursday night against Talladega College, the preseason HBCU Athletic Conference favorite.
 
The Tornadoes led from start to finish enroute to an easy 3-0 victory over the Ambassadors inside Ashby Auditorium.
 
Talladega College won 25-15, 25-13 and 25-12.
 
Oakwood fell to 8-13 overall and 6-5 in HBCUAC action. Talladega College improved to 16-7 and 9-1.
 
Mona Okello and Anna Jones led the Ambassadors with five kills apiece. Kamaria Murray, the reigning HBCUAC Attacker of the Week, was limited to only four kills.

Cameryn Bucknor finished with 13 assists.
 
Murray had nine digs, while Miriangie Rondon and Myah Beasley finished with seven and five, respectively.
 
Re'na Ashley and Franchesca Rivas led the Tornadoes with 14 kills apiece.
 
Giovanna Costarelli had a game-high 24 assists.
 
Briyith Echeverri had a game-high 22 digs.
