TUSKEGEE – A week after capturing its first-ever NAIA Gulf Coast Athletic Conference victory, Oakwood University came here Thursday night in search of its first-ever NCAA win.
Unfortunately, the Ambassadors came up short.
Tuskegee, an NCAA Division II opponent, downed Oakwood 3-0 at the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
The Golden Tigers won 25-20, 25-15 and 25-13.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 3-6 on the season, while Tuskegee improved to 2-8.
Dorian Birch (Ooltewah, TN) led the Ambassadors with seven kills.
Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) finished with a team-high 14 digs, while
Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) had 14 assists.
Moriah Seay posted a double-double to lead Tuskegee. She had 12 kills and 14 digs. Chloe Edwards and Trinity Winningham also had 14 digs apiece. Mikea Allen had a game-high 20 assists.
Oakwood starts a two-game homestand Sunday as Fisk University comes to Ashby Auditorium. First serve is 11 a.m. The Ambassadors will host Tuskegee Monday afternoon at 4.
