After blowing a late lead in the first game, Oakwood University couldn't regroup and find its rhythm Sunday as Fisk University came away with a 3-0 win in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match inside Ashby Auditorium.
The Ambassadors fell to the Bulldogs 23-25, 17-25 and 14-25.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in league play. It was the Ambassadors' sixth loss in their last seven games. Fisk, winners of five straight games, improved to 10-10 and 6-3.
The Ambassadors led 23-19 before the Bulldogs ran off the last six points to win the first game 25-23. Unfortunately, Oakwood never recovered after that and lost in three games.
Trinity Williams (Midlothian, TX) led Oakwood with eight kills.
Kaayla Butler (Seattle, WA) and
Anna Jones (Attalla, AL) had five apiece.
Mona Okello (Overland Park, KS) had 15 digs, while
Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) and
Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) had 11 apiece.
Bucknor had 22 assists.
Berlynn Muldrow led Fisk with 10 kills. Jadyn Brackins has a game-high 17 digs, while Nebthet Re had a game-high 28 assists.
Oakwood hosts Tuskegee today at 4 p.m.
