OAKWOOD SOCCER COMES UP SHORT AGAINST TALLADEGA COLLEGE IN DOUBLEHEADER


Oakwood University came up short against Talladega College Friday at University Field in a men's and women's soccer doubleheader.

The Tornadoes downed the Ambassadors 10-1 in men's action, while the Lady Tornadoes downed the Lady Ambassadors 11-0.

Men's game
Talladega led 2-0 early on, but midfielder Kevin Velasquez (Peru) put one back to pull Oakwood within 2-1. Unfortunately, the Tornadoes scored four more goals in the first half and then added four more in the second half to win going away.

The loss dropped Oakwood to 0-2-1 on the season. Talladega improved to 2-2-1.

The Tornadoes had 22 shots on goal, while the Ambassadors had five. Oakwood goalkeeper Gaston Prophete (Atlanta, GA) finished with 13 saves.
 
Women's game
Talladega built a big lead in the first half and never looked back in handing Oakwood its second loss in as many outings.

The loss dropped the Lady Ambassadors to 0-2. The Lady Tornadoes improved to 3-5.

Talladega had 24 shots on goal, while Oakwood had zero. Oakwood goalkeeper Amarlin Sosa had 12 saves.
