HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Kaley Fuller and
Jana Morrow had two hits apiece, but Tennessee Southern swept Oakwood University 11-2 and 17-2 Wednesday afternoon at Ambassador Field.
The losses dropped Oakwood to 2-12 on the season. Tennessee Southern improved to 10-15.
Game One
The Ambassadors trailed 3-1 after four innings in the opener, but the Firehawks scored eight runs over the last two innings to break it open.
Fuller tripled to open the sixth inning and scored on a single by Morrow to pull Oakwood within 8-2, but the Ambassadors couldn't get any closer.
Fuller (Trussville, AL) was 1-for-3 with a run, while Morrow (Moody, AL) was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Sydney Arnett (Andalusia, AL) also had a hit.
Arnett (2-7) took the loss, allowing 11 runs, including six earned, on 11 hits in seven innings. She struck out 11 and walked three.
Game Two
Tennessee Southern erupted for eight runs in the top of the first inning and didn't look back in taking the second game.
Lessie Allison and Fuller singled to open the bottom of the first inning for the Ambassadors. Two outs later,
Madison Todd singled to score both runners to pull Oakwood within 8-2, but the Firehawks outscored the Ambassadors 9-0 the rest of the way.
Allison (Blountsville, AL), Fuller, Morrow and Todd (Florence, AL) each had a hit.
Arnett (2-8) suffered the loss, allowing 17 runs, including 12 earned, on 21 hits in five innings. She struck out eight and walked one.
