PULASKI, Tenn. – After falling 8-0 to Tennessee Southern in Monday's opener, Oakwood University battled back and made a game of the second one before falling 4-2.
The losses dropped the Ambassadors to 0-10 on the season.
First game
Shortstop
Lessie Allison (Blountsville, AL) and first baseman
Mattie Earl (Holly Pond, AL) had Oakwood's lone hits in the opener.
Sydney Arnett (Andalusia, AL) fell to 0-5 with the loss. She allowed eight runs, four earned, on 10 hits in four innings. She walked two and struck out one.
Ariel Johnson (Jacksonville, FL) was hit by a pitch with one out in the third inning. Allison singled to put runners on first and second and
Kaley Fuller reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Unfortunately, the Ambassadors couldn't get them around to score.
Earl doubled with one out in the fourth inning, but the Ambassadors couldn't get her around to score.
Second game
Trailing 4-0, Oakwood rallied in the top of the seventh inning.
Morrow walked and Arnett reached on an error to put runners on first and second base. After
Madison Todd (Florence, AL) flied out, Morrow stole third and Arnett stole second. Earl walked to load the bases.
EmmaRay Spitzer (Holly Pond, AL) singled to score Morrow and Arnett to make it 4-2, but the Ambassadors couldn't get any closer.
Allison, Arnett and Spitzer accounted for Oakwood's three hits. Arnett fell to 0-6 with the loss. She allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits in six innings. She walked one and struck out seven.
