OAKWOOD SOFTBALL SWEPT BY ALABAMA A&M

ALLISON GAINS A HIT IN EACH GAME TO LEAD THE AMBASSADORS

Alabama A&M got its bats going Wednesday and went on to sweep Oakwood University in a doubleheader at Bulldog Field.

A&M scored 23 runs on 28 hits enroute to beating Oakwood 7-1 and 16-1.

The Ambassadors fell to 0-8 on the season. The Bulldogs improved to 6-6.

Shortstop Lessie Allison (Blountsville, AL) doubled to lead off the opener and scored on a single by catcher Jana Morrow (Moody, AL) to give Oakwood a 1-0 lead.

A&M tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and added four more in the second to take a 5-1 lead. The Bulldogs added single runs in the third and fourth innings to take the 7-1 victory.

Sydney Arnett (Andalusia, AL) fell to 0-5 with the loss. She allowed seven runs on 11 hits in six innings. She walked two and struck out five.

Allison singled, stole second and scored on a ground out by outfielder Kaley Fuller (Trussville, AL) to give the Ambassadors a 1-0 lead in the second game.

Unfortunately, there were no highlights after that.

The Bulldogs responded by scoring 14 runs on 13 hits, including three home runs in the bottom of the first inning, and never looked back.

Mattie Earl (Holly Pond, AL) fell to 0-2 with the loss. She allowed six runs on six hits in just 0.1 innings.

Oakwood will host LeMoyne-Owen College Monday in its home opener. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Ambassador Field.
