HUNTSVILLE – Oakwood University struggled in its season opener Tuesday at John Hunt Park as Stillman College swept the Ambassadors 27-2 and 21-0 in a baseball doubleheader.
Oakwood managed two runs on two hits in the opener, but failed to hit a get in the nightcap.
Dylan Grigorius (San Nicholas, Aruba) had a hit and scored a run in the opener.
Jeremy Matos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) also had a hit.
Erick Perez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and
Obed Herrera (Cuba) had RBIs, while
Akari David (Tallahassee, FL) scored a run.
Matos (0-1) took the loss in the first game. He allowed 10 runs, four earned, on four hits in 1.2 inning of work. Matos walked four and struck out two.
Grigorius took the loss in the second game, allowing seven runs, four earned, on one hit in two innings. He walked seven and struck out three.
