ADAMS' HOT SHOOTING HELPS OAKWOOD SNAP FIVE-GAME LOSING STREAK

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – Trenisha Adams scored a career-high 24 points and three of her teammates also finished in double figures as Oakwood University snapped a five-game losing streak Sunday afternoon in an 81-69 victory over Southern University at New Orleans in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Round Up at Kinzell Lawson Gymnasium in the W.A. McMillan Center.

Adams (Rome, GA) was 8-of-16 from the field, including 8-of-14 from 3-point range in the win. Hannah Cohn (Decatur, AL), backed Adams with 17 points. She also had five rebounds and five assists.

Nekaya Williams (Lilburn, GA) had 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Denaj'za Jackson (Detroit, MI) finished with 11 points.

Oakwood shot 41.5 percent (27-of-65) from the field, including 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from 3-point range, and 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the free throw line. The Ambassadors outrebounded SUNO 44-32, including 17 on the offensive end, had a season high 19 assists and 11 steals.

Oakwood improved to 5-17 overall and 3-7 in league play with the win. SUNO fell to 2-14 and 0-9.

Ananya Donaldson led SUNO with 24 points. Jordan Harris had 20 and McKenna Harris finished with 17.

The Knights shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the field, including 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from 3-point range, and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the charity stripe.

Oakwood is back in action Friday at the GCAC Round Up at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

Oakwood will take on Tougaloo College Friday at noon, Wiley Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and SUNO Sunday at noon.
