AMBASSADORS SWEPT BY STILLMAN IN SEASON OPENER

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Oakwood University's Sydney Arnett had a base hit and Kaley Fuller stole a base, but Stillman College downed the Ambassadors 15-2 and 9-0 in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at the SC Softball Complex.

Oakwood, playing its first game in more than a decade, fell to 0-2. Stillman improved to 6-0.

Arnett (Andalusia, AL) singled in the top of the fourth inning for Oakwood's lone hit in the opener. Arnett (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and walked one.

The Ambassadors scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning after the game had been decided.

Kennedy Lewis (Augusta, GA) reached on an error and advanced to second after Cameryn Buckner (Huntsville, AL) walked. After Ariel Johnson (Jacksonville, FL) struck out, Fuller (Trussville. AL) reached on an error, allowing Lewis to score and Buckner advanced to third.

Lessie Allison (Blountsville, AL) grounded out to score Buckner.

Arnett (0-2) took the loss in the nightcap, allowing nine runs on 10 hits in four innings. She walked four and struck out five.

The Ambassadors failed to get a hit.

Arnett reached on a one-out error in the second and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, but EmmaRay Spitzer (Holly Pond, AL) struck out and Lewis was caught stealing to end the inning.

Oakwood had two other baserunners – Jana Morrow (Moody, AL) in the fourth and Spitzer in the fifth – but the Ambassadors couldn't drive them home.
