DEFENDING GCAC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPION DILLARD SWEEPS OAKWOOD

Defending Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season volleyball champion Dillard University scored early and often in beating Oakwood University 3-0 Friday afternoon at Ashby Auditorium.

The Bleu Devils downed the Ambassadors 25-21, 25-14 and 25-16 to sweep the season series.

Oakwood fell to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in league play with the loss. Dillard improved to 13-7 and 8-1.

Kaayla Butler (Seattle, WA) led the Ambassadors with six kills, while Anna Jones (Attalla, AL) finished with five.

Demerica Parker (Quinton, AL) and Trinity Williams (Midlothian, TX) finished with 10 digs apiece, while Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) had 13 assists.

Sara Da Silva led Dillard with eight kills. Chasry Lum-King had 18 digs, while Taylor Hurst finished with 15 assists.

Oakwood will host Southern University of New Orleans Sunday in a doubleheader. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
