TUSKEGEE SWEEPS OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL DESPITE DOUBLE-DOUBLES FROM WILLIAMS AND BUCKNOR

Trinity Williams and Cameryn Bucknor recorded double-doubles Monday afternoon, but it still wasn't enough as Tuskegee University handed Oakwood University its seventh loss in its last eight games with a 3-1 victory in a nonconference volleyball match at Ashby Auditorium.

The Ambassadors fell 21-25, 17-25, 25-18 and 25-11.

Oakwood fell to 3-8 with the loss. Tuskegee, which swept the season series, improved to 3-10.

After losing the first game in a spirited battle, the Ambassadors dropped the second game 25-17. Oakwood bounced back in the third game to win 25-18, but Tuskegee came away with the match, winning the final game 25-11.

Williams (Midlothian, TX) finished with 13 kills and 17 digs to lead the Ambassadors. Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) had 12 digs and 28 assists.

Dorian Birch (Ooltewah, TN) had seven kills, while Mona Okello (Overland Park, KS) had six.

Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) backed Williams with 14 digs.

Moriah Seay led Tuskegee with 16 kills and 22 digs. Rita Nua had a team-high 17 assists.

Oakwood, 1-5 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, returns to league play Wednesday when it visits Rust College and hosts Dillard University Friday at 1 p.m.
