WILEY COLLEGE HANDS OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS

MARSHALL, Texas – Oakwood University volleyball fell for the second time in as many days Sunday afternoon as Wiley College came away with a 3-0 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference victory at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Wildcats downed the Ambassadors 25-15, 27-25 and 25-11.

Oakwood fell to 6-11 overall and 4-8 in league play. Wiley improved to 4-15 overall and 4-8 in league play, but more importantly has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Oakwood should both teams finish tied in the standings.

Anna Jones (Attalla, AL) led the Ambassadors with 10 kills. Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) finished with 15 digs, while Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) had a game-high 18 assists.

Shyla Starks and Brayleigh Mitchell led Wiley with 12 kills apiece. Nadia Cortez had 13 digs, while Kyra Woods and LeAndria Johnson had 17 and 15 assists, respectively.

Oakwood has a busy week ahead.

The Ambassadors host Talladega College Tuesday night and visits West Alabama Wednesday night before hosting Tougaloo College and Rust College this weekend.
