NASHVILLE –
Nekaya Williams scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but got little help from her teammates as Oakwood University fell 77-46 to Lipscomb University Wednesday afternoon at Allen Arena.
The loss, which snapped Oakwood's two-game winning streak, dropped the Ambassadors to 2-11 on the season. The Bisons won their third straight game and improved to 5-3.
Oakwood fell behind 40-19 at halftime and it only got worse from there.
Williams, who has scored 21 points or more in three of her last five games, was 8-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-8 from 3-point range. Meanwhile, the rest of the team was 8-of-36 from the field and 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.
The Ambassadors shot 27 percent (16-of-58) from the field, including 23 percent (4-of-17) from 3-point range. Oakwood hurt itself with 23 turnovers and Lipscomb scored 31 points off of those miscues.
Kamil Collier led four Bisons in double figures with 25 points and 16 rebounds.
Lipscomb dominated in bench points (46), points in the paint (38) and second chance points (20).
