Oakwood University ran into a buzzsaw Monday night against the University of North Alabama.
The Lions scored early and often, built a huge lead at halftime and cruised the rest of the way enroute to a 108-51 victory over the Ambassadors at Flowers Hall in Florence.
The loss dropped Oakwood to 1-4 on the season, while UNA is now 1-0.
The Lions shot a sizzling 66 percent (25-of-38) from the field in the first half to take a commanding 60-25 advantage at intermission and the outcome was never in doubt. UNA scored 64 points in the paint and got 62 points from its bench.
Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) is the lone bright spot for Oakwood, finishing with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He also grabbed five rebounds.
Robert Booker (Laurel, MD) chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.
The Ambassadors shot 32 percent (20-of-63) from the field, 18 percent (3-of-17) from 3-point range and were 8-of-12 from the charity stripe.
 Daniel Ortiz led six Lions in double figures with 20 points. Former Lee High star Jacari Lane finished with 11 points.
Oakwood is back in action Saturday night as the University of Tennessee Southern invades Ashby Auditorium.
