Rod Gillott is entering his first season as the assistant softball coach at Oakwood University.
COACHING CAREER
Gillott coached softball and football for a number of years in north Alabama.
He started the softball program at Danville, his alma mater, serving as head coach from 1998-2004. He later served as head coach at Decaur Heritage from 2005 through 2015 before going back to Danville as the head coach from 2016-2022.
Gillott was an assistant football coach at Danville from 1984-1992. He was Defensive Coordinator at Decatur Heritage from 2002-2008.
PLAYING CAREER
Gillott was a 3-sport star at Danville, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He earned several All-Area and All-Region honors during his career.
FAMILY
Gillott is the proud father of one daughter, Erin Jade Wright.
