MORARA, NEWBY NAMED OAKWOOD'S PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Naftal Morara, a member of the men's basketball team, and Emma Newby, a member of the softball team, have been named Oakwood University's Players of the Week for the week ending Feb. 15.

Morara, a 6-0 senior forward from Farmington, Minn., had a big week for the Ambassadors.

He averaged 20.7 points and 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 68 percent (28-of-41) from the field in three games.

Morara's best game came in a win over Philander Smith College when he poured in 24 points to go along with three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. He also had 23 points, four rebounds and three steals in a loss to Dalton State.

Newby, a 5-6 freshman pitcher from Huntsville, had a great debut in helping Oakwood sweep Lane College.

Over two games, Newby pitched 13.2 innings, allowing 10 runs, eight earned, and 17 hits. She walked six and struck out 20 batters.

Newby's best outing came in the opener when she gave up no runs on four hits in 6.2 innings to go along with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
