OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY PICKED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN 2025 HBCUAC PRESEASON VOLLEYBALL POLL

NEW ORLEANS – Oakwood University was picked to finish eighth in the 2025 HBCU Athletic Conference preseason volleyball poll, league officials announced recently.

Dillard, the defending HBCUAC postseason champion, was picked to finish first with 155 points and 10 first-place votes. The Bleu Devils went 20-9 last season.

Fisk University, which finished 23-9 last season, was picked to finish second with 142 points and one first-place vote, while Philander Smith and two-time defending regular season champion Talladega College, tied for third.

New members Paul Quinn College and Huston-Tillotson, who competed in the Red River Athletic Conference last season, finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Fisk University's Reagan Jones, the 2024 HBCUAC Player of the Year, Attacker of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, was named the preseason Player of the Year.

Dillard's Cadence Thomas, Philander Smith's Essence Wren, Talladega's Briyith Echeverri, Fisk University's Nialah Gupton, Dillard's Gabrielle Washington and Philander Smith's Zarea Winn were also named to the team.
