OAKWOOD GOES FOR SEASON SWEEP AGAINST WILBERFORCE IN IMPORTANT HBCUAC DOUBLEHEADER

WILBERFORCE, OH. – A week after sweeping Wilberforce University in a key HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader at home, Oakwood University will try to complete the season sweep today when the Ambassadors take on the Bulldogs inside Gaston F. Lewis Arena.

Tipoff for the women's game is 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's game.

Men's Preview 

Jordan Green and Jamarkus Alexander combined for 32 points in the second half a week ago to help Oakwood snap its 16-game losing streak by outlasting Wilberforce.

Green scored 22 of his 28 in the second half, while Alexander had 10 of his 12 points in the final 20 minutes to help the Ambassadors win for the first since Nov. 2.

The 73-71 was not secure until Cali Davis missed two free throws with four seconds left. Davis will certainly be looking to help his team get past Oakwood tonight.

The Ambassadors (2-18, 1-11) are currently in last place in the East Division, while the Bulldogs (7-12, 5-8) are in fourth place. Wilberforce is currently riding a nine-game losing streak.

Oakwood has been led by Jordan Bell and Alexander this season.

Bell is averaging 15.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He also leads the team with 25 blocks.

Alexander is averaging 12.3 points and three rebounds per game.

Wilberforce will counter with Davis and Kyle Cardenas.

Davis is averaging 18.8 points and 4.9 rebounds, while Cardenas is averaging 11.7 points per game.

Women's Preview 

Oakwood will try to start a new winning streak today after Blue Mountain Christian snapped its five-game streak on Monday.

The Ambassadors (8-10, 6-6) downed the Bulldogs (7-12, 4-8) 63-60 a week ago at Ashby Auditorium behind 20 points from Trenisha Adams and a double-double from Saniya Keys.

Tonight's game begins a stretch of six straight conference games to close the season for Oakwood, who enters the game fourth place in the East Division.

Keys leads the way for the Ambassadors, averaging a league-high 18.1 points and 11.3 rebounds.

Adams is averaging 11.8 points and has a team-high 55 3-pointers to go along with 68 assists and 39 steals.

Kamaria Murray is averaging 10 points and 3.8 rebounds. She has 45 assists, 32 3-pointers and 29 steals, while shooting a team-high 77.4 percent from the free throw line.

Wilberforce, currently in last place in the East Division, is led by Makyla Tucker and Constance Chaplin.

Tucker is averaging 14.1 points per game, while Chaplin is averaging 13 points and 6.6 rebounds.
