OAKWOOD VOLLEYBALL VISITS RED HOT TALLADEGA IN GCAC BATTLE TONIGHT

TALLADEGA – Oakwood University volleyball will try to get back on track tonight when it visits Talladega College in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match at the Dr. Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center. First serve is 6.

The Ambassadors enter the contest 2-4 overall and 0-3 in league play. Oakwood has lost four straight games since a 2-0 start. Meanwhile, the Tornadoes, newcomers to the GCAC, are 13-6 overall and 6-1 in league play. Talladega is one of the hottest teams in the conference, having won five straight games, including a sweep of defending tournament champion Philander Smith. The Tornadoes, who are 6-0 at home this season, were picked to finish fourth in the GCAC preseason poll, while the Ambassadors were picked to finish eighth out of nine teams.

Trinity Williams (Midlothian, TX), Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) and Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) have been the Ambassadors' statistical leaders.

Williams has a team-high 41 kills, while Brown has a team-high 73 digs. Bucknor has 118 assists and is second on the team with 60 digs.

Talladega middle blocker Nedu Evans was an All-GCAC preseason pick. She is one of three Tornadoes with more than 100 kills on the season. Kiana Polk leads the way with 164, followed by Re'na Ashley with 138 and Evans with 115.
