DILLARD ELIMINATES OAKWOOD FROM GCAC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Dillard University eliminated Oakwood University from the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory inside Billy Montgomery Gymnasium at Bossier Parish Community College.

The Bleu Devils dominated the Ambassadors, outscoring them 42-8 in kills and 37-8 in assists.

Dillard improved to 21-10 with the victory and advanced to today's semifinals. Oakwood ended its season 7-15.

Kaayla Butler (Seattle, WA), Nataeya Dickerson (Hampstead, MD) and Anna Jones (Attalla, AL) led Oakwood with two kills apiece.

Jones and Shaniya Brown (Dallas, TX) finished with nine digs apiece, while Cameryn Bucknor (Huntsville, AL) had five assists. Earlier in the day, Bucknor was named an All-GCAC Honorable Mention selection.

Vanae Sapp and Sara Da Silva led Dillard with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Chasry Lum-King finished with 12 kills, while Trinity Pender added 10. Taylor Hurst had a game-high 20 assists, while Tyramae Fautonu had 15.
