The Oakwood University men's and women's basketball teams, each in desperate need of a win, visit Stillman College tonight at Birthright Alumni Hall in Tuscaloosa. The women's game starts at 5:30, with the men slated to play 30 minutes later.
The Lady Ambassadors (0-9) are trying to snap a nine-game losing streak. Miles College handed Oakwood its ninth straight loss Tuesday night, beating Aleshia Greene's team for the second time in four days.
Stillman (6-1) downed Oakwood 87-63 back on Nov. 1 at Ashby Auditorium. The Lady Ambassadors trailed 37-28 at intermission, but the Lady Tigers outscored them 35-11 in the third quarter to break it open.
Hannah Cohn (Decatur, AL) and Trenishia Adams (Rome, GA) led Oakwood with 15 points each in the loss.
Stillman's lone loss came Tuesday night at home in a 65-59 loss to Faulkner University.
On the men's side, Oakwood (1-6) downed Stillman (1-3) 50-48 back on Nov. 1. It was the Ambassadors' first win against the Tigers in 10 tries.
Judelin Prophete (Miami, FL) led the way with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Prophete has scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 12.6 points and 7.6 rebounds during that stretch. Nicholas Kennard (Antioch, TN) is averaging just over 11 points per game.
Oakwood, who has lost five straight games, is coming off of a 102-65 setback at Kentucky State Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, Stillman fell 72-61 Tuesday night to No. 11 Faulkner in its Southern States Athletic Conference opener.
The Tigers are led by Derrick Finklea and Bailey Talley.
